About the role
TransferX is building AI-powered tools to help students navigate the transfer process. We're looking for an AI Chat Trainer to help make those experiences more accurate, useful, conversational, and student-friendly.
You'll work with AI-generated responses, evaluate conversations, identify mistakes, create training examples, and help improve how our AI responds to real student questions.
This role is a great fit for someone who is curious about AI, education, conversational design, and how people interact with technology.
What you'll do
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses
- Identify inaccurate, confusing, incomplete, or unhelpful responses
- Create high-quality examples for AI training
- Develop and refine prompts and conversation scenarios
- Test AI responses across different student questions and situations
- Identify patterns in AI mistakes and recommend improvements
- Help create guidelines for accurate and helpful AI responses
- Test conversational flows and edge cases
- Work with product and engineering teams to improve AI-powered features
- Research transfer-related topics to ensure AI responses are relevant and useful
- Help maintain quality standards for AI-generated content
What we're looking for
- Strong written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail

- Curiosity about AI and emerging technology
- Ability to identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and gaps in information
- Ability to clearly explain why an AI response is good or needs improvement
- Comfortable working with repetitive evaluation tasks while maintaining consistency
- Strong research skills
- Ability to understand information from a student's perspective
Bonus points
- Experience with ChatGPT or other generative AI tools
- Experience with prompt engineering
- Experience with conversational UX or chatbot design
- Experience in education or student services
- Experience working with datasets or annotation
- Technical background or familiarity with APIs and AI systems
Important
You do not need to be an AI engineer for this role.
We're especially interested in people who understand how students ask questions and can recognize what makes an AI response accurate, clear, trustworthy, and genuinely helpful.
